Posto Santo is a suburban parish in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, Azores, with 22.21 km² of area and 1,048 inhabitants (2011), which corresponds to a population density of 47.2 inhabitants / km ².
It is located about 4 km north of the center of the city of Angra do Heroísmo, in the southern part of the island of Terceira, being one of the few Azorean parishes considered inland, that is, whose territory does not border the coast of the island. It is located on the slope of the mountains overlooking the city of Angra, at an appreciable altitude, so it has excellent views.
The parish was created on September 15, 1980 from suburban and rural territory that was part of the city parish of Santa Luzia de Angra.
Bordering with the city of Angra do Heroísmo and without defined natural limits, the territory of the parish of Posto Santo has an irregular shape, with about 20.4 km² of area, which corresponds to about 8.5% of the county surface, being limited to the south by the parish of Santa Luzia de Angra (from whose territory it was detached), to the west by the parishes of Terra Chã and São Bartolomeu dos Regatos, to the north, along the central area of the island, by the parish of Biscoitos (municipality of Praia da Vitória), to the northeast and east by the parish of Porto Judeu and to the east and southeast by the city parishes of São Bento de Angra and Conceição. With Terra Chã, it is one of only two parishes in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo that do not confront the sea.
The maximum altitude (537 m) is recorded at the geodesic vertex of Pico da Bagacina, in the northwest of the parish.
